The Fanuc A87L-0001-0018 is a Bubble Memory Unit (BMU), a non-volatile bubble memory board that serves as the central program memory for Fanuc CNC controls of the System 6 series. Bubble memory retains stored data even without power supply, making it particularly reliable for use in industrial control environments. The board is used in Fanuc System 6 controls, including model variants 6M, 6MB, 6T and 6TB as well as 6A, 6B and 6BII. The card is occasionally also found in Fanuc System 11 controls. It represents the first version of the 320M BMU board for the Fanuc NC control system and is installed directly on the master board of the respective control. Hitachi is documented as the OEM manufacturer of the bubble memory. The A87L-0001-0018 has a storage capacity of 128 Kb. Depending on the system software present in the Fanuc System 6 control, an upgrade to 512 Kb is possible. The board weighs 2 kg and has dimensions of 42 × 28 × 5 cm.
